Abbey Masterbatch - Michael Shirt Announcement

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr Michael Shirt, Managing Director of Abbey Masterbatch has unfortunately passed away this weekend after a short period of illness from brain cancer.

Michael formed the company, Abbey Thermosets in1984 and later to be renamed Abbey Masterbatch Ltd which reflected the change in the core business. He achieved many awards, which includes two Queens Wards for innovation and export and achieving close relationships with many customers, including overseas.

Michael was one of the original innovators of the Masterbatch Industry from the early 1970’s, and more specifically during his time as the Managing Director of Colloids (Widnes), which many of us are grateful for and has contributed largely to where we are now.

He will be missed by all that knew him.
