This year’s report (containing data for 2024) was completed by 58 members, representing 11,347 employees and shows that the sector’s performance is improving and compares well to UK manufacturing.
The top 5 causes of injury in the report are:
-
Injured whilst handling, lifting or carrying
-
Slip, trip or fall on the same level
-
Hit against stationary object
-
Contact with moving machinery
-

All stakeholders within the UK Plastics Industry are encouraged to participate in this annual survey which assists in pin-pointing areas of health & safety where more focus is needed. The survey helps to provide evidence which can be used to show that the plastics industry is making efforts to improve its accident record - a key target under the new SIMPL 'Safety in Manufacturing Plastics' strategy.
