Speaker Biographies

 

Graham Whitchurch, Solutions4plastics

Image

A degree qualified Engineer by training; Graham has been working within many areas of the plastics industry since 1984.

Initially working for some major companies such as British Polythene Industries & Huntsman within engineering, maintenance & manufacturing Graham’s expertise was in the installation & commercialization of new lines.

Since 1999 Graham has worked entirely in the biopolymer industry. Initially as a Manufacturing Director for a PVOH supplier and following this, as the Operations Director for Adept Polymers. Graham was also a main board director for Stanelco plc, who supply both PVA & starch-based polymers.

Graham’s own specialty is in the material selection, formulation & processing of biopolymers. During the last few years he has travelled extensively introducing biopolymers to potential customers & running trials at customer facilities on all types of conversion equipment and therefore has a good knowledge of the market, the products & opportunities.

Kristy-Barbara Lange, European Bioplastics

Kristy-Barbara Lange is Head of Communications at European Bioplastics and responsible for all communications measures of the association internally and externally including media relations and corporate publishing. Kristy holds a Master of Political Sciences from Heidelberg University, Germany. Before joining European Bioplastics, she worked several years in international PR-agencies with the focus on clients from the (renewable) energy and the infrastructure sector.

Peter Jones, Ecolateral

Peter T Jones was until May 2008 a Director of Biffa Waste Services Limited with specific responsibilities in external affairs and strategy development. He now operates as a freelance advisor in matters strategic relating to the waste, carbon and materials efficiency agenda.  He is a member of the Chartered Institutes of Marketing, Transport, and Wastes Management, and operates in roles demanding specific skills in the development and management of change processes in sectors undergoing substantial upheaval due to competitive, regulatory, or other pressures.  He qualified as an Industrial Economist and in July 2007 received an Honorary Degree from the University of Southampton as a Doctor of the University for work associated with Environmental technologies.
