‘Bottle Top Poppy’

‘Bottle Top Poppy’

By Emma Oldfield (Design & Technology Teacher) & Dean Bramley (Bericap Process Engineer/Supervisor)

Dean Bramley looks after Bericap's on site process team, but has also been going into local schools to do some engagement work – most recently making poppies from caps.

The collaboration between The Market Weighton School and Bericap Hull resulted in a poppy installation at the school providing many benefits and learning opportunities for the pupils using our scrap product.

1. **Staff Imagination**: The project emerged as a creative solution for the use of STEM at The Market Weighton Senior School. (TMWS)

2. **Art as Tribute**: The ‘Bottle Top Poppy’ installation serves as a tribute of Remembrance Day.

3. **Engagement and Participation**: The project encouraged Student and Staff involvement working with plastic bottle tops in imaginative ways.

4. **Design**: Each vibrant poppy created from bottle tops symbolizes those who have fallen.

5. **Environmental Awareness**: The installation promotes sustainability by repurposing plastic waste also raising awareness about the environmental issues.

6. **Educational Impact**: The project serves as an educational tool, highlighting the importance of creativity, problem-solving, social activities among students and also leaning about historical events on this occasion.
