BPF Additives Suppliers Group Welcomes New Chairman
Tuesday, 20 September 2016
The British Plastics Federation (BPF) Additive Suppliers Group has a new chairman, Steve Quinn, who presided over his first meeting this month.
Steve brings his experience and knowledge to the role as a specialist in colour and additive concentrates for the plastics and coating industries, and as a project manager and EU REACH leader at West & Senior.
BPF Director General Philip Law said of the appointment:
“Steve’s work at EU and national levels with regards to chemical legislation — and its impacts for the raw material sector — ensure that he is well equipped to steer the Additives Suppliers Group in the right direction.”
Steve began his first meeting by stating his appreciation of the outgoing chairman, Jim Jeffries of Chemson, for his contributions to the industry sector:
“Having worked in the plastics additives sector for 30 years and witnessed first-hand the many benefits of BPF membership, it is an honour and privilege to undertake this role following the positivity so wonderfully brought to industry by Jim Jeffries, a true ambassador for plastics.”
Steve declared that he will continue to take an active position with regards to chemical legislation, as well as summarising his view on the importance of innovation for the sector:
“Innovation within additives technology has contributed to the vast array of plastics applications and enhanced performance that all currently enjoy. Their positive impact towards improved performance can be substantial and the continued drive for further evolution remains at the heart of plastics philosophy. I now look forward to working with BPF members to promote this wonderful science not only within direct or associated industry, but also to the broader public and through the sometimes challenging matters of increasing legislation.”
Steve also praised the existing group members and his vice-chair, Steve Harrison of Reagens, for their support and experience, and stated his wish “to help drive plastics towards an active and developing future”.
The BPF Additives Suppliers Group’s ongoing mission is to maintain a strong networking platform, to help the sector develop, and to promote the strengths of the UK plastics additives sector to the plastics supply chain. The group will continue to focus on relevant issues, including REACH and broader EU chemicals legislation.
