BPF and PAFA to set up New Group for Plastics and Flexible Packaging

The British Plastics Federation and the Packaging and Films Association have announced their intention to set up a new business grouping for the plastics and flexible packaging industry, providing for the first time in the UK a single point of reference for companies supplying the highest volume market for plastics materials.

The new Group, which will operate within the BPF's legal structure, will comprise over seventy manufacturers of plastics and flexible packaging.

Philip Law , BPF's Director General said, "The new Group will combine the great traditions of both PAFA and the BPF to create a very powerful platform for this industry sector, massively increasing its comparable advantage."

Barry Turner, the CEO of PAFA, added, "This move will create a single, more powerful point of contact with governments across the UK, will enable us to leverage the combined expertise of both organisations and will ensure that the communication and services to members are further enhanced."

The announcement is the culmination of several months of discussions between the two organisations. The new Group, under the leadership of Barry Turner, will be fully operational from 1st January 2016.
