BPF Annual Dinner 2024 - Key Industry Networking Event of the Year

The British Plastics Federation’s Annual Dinner took place in London on 10 October 2024. This event was the 91st BPF Annual Dinner and brought together over 500 plastics industry professionals from across the UK and overseas for an evening of networking and key updates from the BPF President.

BPF Director General Philip Law welcomed guests to the event and discussed the sustainability of the industry and the resilience of the plastics industry in 2024. He talked about how the annual dinner "nourishes these qualities that move your business forward – you can seek solace and solutions from those who share the same problem, you can resolve to outdo your competitors, you can absorb ideas that hadn’t struck you before, you can meet new people that you want in your network."

After the dinner the BPF’s current president Nigel Flowers, director at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag UK spoke. He discussed how it has been a turbulent year in politics and talked about the BPF’s success in the digital world and in sustainability. He then presented the following awards to the worthy winners.

BPF Gold Medal Award

The BPF Gold Medal Winner, which is awarded for outstanding services to the plastics industry, was Mike Boswell of Plastribution.

Presenting the award, Nigel Flowers stated:

He has been a Group Chairman for longer than anyone can remember, again that speaks ‘sustainability’; he’s been a president of the BPF and now he has done quite a stint as the BPF’s Honorary Treasurer. Not only that, but he’s also found time to climb to the highest point in every county on behalf of Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance charities.

BPF Energy Award

The BPF Energy Award for outstanding achievements in energy savings went to WSBL Ltd and was collected by Oliver Wood.

The runner up was Reliance Worldwide Corporation (RWC).

The evening then finished with a fantastic speech from Rory Bremner. Mr Bremner amused the audience with his jokes about politics both in the UK and USA, as well as his excellent impressions.
