BPF at the PDM 2008

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) exhibited at the highly successful Plastics Design & Moulding (PDM) Show between 15th and 17th April. Exhibiting at the show, held in the Telford International Centre, were some 230 companies from all sectors of the plastics industry. These included machinery manufacturers, software suppliers, ancillary equipment suppliers, moulders, polymer producers, rapid prototyping companies and polymer distributors.

The Exhibition provided the BPF with an excellent opportunity to meet with members, interact with the wider plastics community and to showcase activities. Furthermore, the show was occasion to disseminate the results and research from the valuable research and development projects with which the BPF is involved. These projects  and are designed to save energy, improve competitiveness and reduce the environmental impact of plastics processing.

A number of BPF members were exhibiting in parallel at the show and commented favourably:

Listgrove had a hugely enjoyable PDM, particularly in discussing recruitment and HR briefs with a number of new clients.  The early indications are that the exhibition will more than meet with our business expectations says Jason Markham, Managing Director of Listgrove Limited

Overall we were impressed by the shows vibrant atmosphere and felt it was well attended this year.  As Chairman for the BPF Distributors and Commoners Group it was pleasing to see such a strong presence from member firms. We used the show to promote our newly launched website, introducing Miss Poly Moore to the wider industry says Mike Boswell, Managing Director, Plastribution

Throughout the show an extensive educational seminar programme covering a range of subjects with specific relevance to the plastics industry of today was provided. Speakers from top UK companies presented on issues including energy costs, taxation, skills issues, packaging design & applications, globalisation and moulding technologies.
