BPF Automotive Seminar Achieves Record Numbers

BPF Automotive Seminar Achieves Record Numbers

On Wednesday 7 November the British Plastics Federation held its annual automotive conference at the JLR facilities in Castle Bromwich.

Nearly 70 plastics industry representatives from across the industry attended the event to network and to listen to the insightful presentations. This was a record attendance for this event.

The event began with Ian Henry from AutoAnalysis exploring the state of the UK automotive industry. He was followed by Luke Hampton from SMMT who discussed the automotive sector deal. After our morning break Dave OudeNijeweme from the advanced propulsion centre talked on what the car industry will look like in 20 years time, examining the role of electric and autonomous vehicles. Our final session before the lunch break had Fabian Watelet from JLR presenting JLR’s vision for the future with a specific focus on sustainability.

After the networking lunch where the attendees explored the 7 trade exhibiters in attendance there were three sessions. Rhys Isaac kicked things off with a presentation on Brexit and rules of origin, Paul Gallen from the National Composites Centre then looked at thermoplastic composites. To finish the event Peter Atterby from Luxus gave the audience his views on overcoming barriers to increasing recycled content in automotive.

The slides from the event will be made available for BPF members to download within the next few days and the BPF will return to the Midlands for our 2019 automotive seminar in the autumn of 2019.
