BPF Council attend meeting at the Bank of England

On 12 July, members of the BPF Council attended their annual meeting at the Bank of England. 

During the meeting, a representative from the Bank of England explained the current state of the UK economy and how it is expected to perform in the coming months.

The BPF presented industry data provided by members through the July 2023 Business Conditions Survey and highlighted the current challenges faced by the industry including issues around labour availability and fears of energy price increases over the winter.

The BPF Council includes representatives from all sectors of the plastics industry and they each provided insights from their respective businesses to help inform the Bank of the current issues the industry faces. 

In addition to representatives from the Bank, in attendence was resprentative from the Department for Business & Trade.

The Bank greatly values the BPF's input because our markets feed into most areas of the Economy and trands within the industry are seen as an indicator of the whole economies performance.  The information provided informs the banks quartely Inflation Report. 

The annual meeting at the Bank has been held for nearly 20 years.
