The website arrives amongst a growing number of news articles, particularly in the Daily Mail and The Sun, that make statements about both the safety and the suitability of using plastic as a packaging material.
The new website aims to clarify many issues including why plastic packaging is used, its safety credentials, the role of plastic packaging in sustainability, as well encouraging more plastic packaging recycling.
The website is also the official site of the BPF’s Plastic and Flexible Packaging Group, and director of the group Barry Turner said:
We are providing this site so that the public can find reliable and authoritative information on many aspects of plastic and flexible packaging. The site will be updated regularly, and will include the BPF’s official position statements on a range of important current topics, and feature news and events highly relevant to the industry.
The site also features a members-only area that will include survey results, reports, meeting minutes and other exclusive information available only to BPF Plastics and Flexible Packaging Group members.
