BPF Expands Membership with New IPWAF Group
Monday, 4 April 2011
The British Plastics Federation (BPF) Group structure has seen an expansion by the addition of a new Industrial Plastics Welding and Fabrication (IPWAF) Group - the 20th BPF Group to be integrated into the BPF’s diverse member base.
The IPWAF Group represents Industrial Welding and Fabricators through its membership of plastics welders and fabricators, product suppliers, research and consultancy companies. The BPF is extending an invitation to UK companies with interest in this area to the next IPWAF meeting, which will be held on the 24th May at the BPF office, London. The meeting will outline the Group’s activity, the future development path and a discussion on the development of the industry’s standards.
Philip Law, Director of Public & Industrial Affairs said,”This is a crucial sector using joining techniques to extend the usefulness of plastics products. Many people associate the welding and fabrication process with metal, the wider audience needs to be informed about their application to plastics. They make a vital contribution to diverse areas such as pipes and landfill linings. The Group will provide a valuable platform for the members to meet and discuss common objectives and issues such as progressing technical standards and training needs.”
The IPWAF Group aims to provide experience, innovation, education, competency training and research to meet the industry’s needs as well as to look at issues such as optimising design and maximising operational and personnel safety.
