Tuesday, 14 October 2008
The British Plastics Federation was invited by a DEFRA Minister to become a member of the UK Chemicals Stakeholder Forum (CSF). Peter Davis, Director-General of the BPF will attend the Forum’s meeting on 14th October in Cardiff.
Members of the CSF include: Greenpeace, TUC, British Retail Consortium, Royal Society of Chemistry and the Green Chemistry Network. The CSF focuses on: REACH Implementation progress, options for prioritisation of substances, chemicals under consideration, conformity of imported chemicals’ substitution and international chemicals update.
Peter Davis said, “We welcome membership of the Forum as a means to ensure that only scientific fact predominates as a judge of alleged chemical hazard. We will pressure the authorities to ensure that imported substances that fraudulently claim to conform to REACH are firmly kept out of the UK.”
