BPF Gold Medal Winners Announced at the BPF 83rd Annual Dinner

At the British Plastic Federation’s (BPF) 83rd Annual Dinner, on Thursday 13 October at the Lancaster London hotel, BPF president David Hall presented the Federation’s Gold Medal for Outstanding Services to Jim Jeffries and Dr Chris Howick.

Jim Jeffries is a former BPF president whose career spans Lankro, Baerlocher and Chemson, and who has also served as chairman of the BPF Additives Group, while Dr Chris Howick of INOVYN Chlorvinyls is a leading expert on chemicals legislation including REACH and associated regulations and is currently chairman of the BPF Product Safety Committee.
BPF president David Hall said of Jim Jeffries, “he has made a selfless, distinguished second tour of duty as the chairman of the Additives Group, and has made a massive contribution to the BPF” and added that Dr Chris Howick “is the last word on REACH and associated regulations and has been a tremendous support to the BPF for many years. We couldn’t have a more capable chairman of our Product Safety Committee.”
The BPF Energy Award was also presented at the dinner to Talis-UK in recognition of achieving outstanding improvement in energy efficiency. The runner up to the BPF Energy Award was also annouced at the dinner as Nampak Plastics Europe - Severnside for significant improvements made.
The runner-up to the Horners Award for Plastics Innovation and Design 2016 was awarded to the Thermochromic Cable Collar by GH Innovation Ltd.
The dinner was attended by a record number of guests, and included a well-received after dinner speech by the columnist and broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer.
