BPF Host High-Level Packaging Forum

On 28th April the British Plastics Federation (BPF) held a high-level meeting of senior representatives from its Packaging Group at the prestigious Athenaeum Club, London.

Attendees were briefed on the BPF's intensive issues management campaign that ensures issues surround plastics packaging are addressed quickly and efficiently, and which aids in promoting an understanding of the important sustainable role of plastics packaging amongst legislators and downstream users.

The BPF also took the opportunity to inform representatives of its recent success in the 2009 Budget, which clear the way for the BPF to secure a Climate Change Agreement (CCA), based on electricity only, for plastics processors. Anthony Roberts, BPF Senior Executive Public Affairs says: "At last after ten years we have the opportunity to put plastics on a level playing field with other packaging materials that already have CCAs. Furthermore, the discount afforded by a CCA will go straight back into investment to improve plastic packaging companies energy efficiency and will not be exploited by their customers".

Anthony Roberts says: "The event was a great success and the feedback from members indicates that they truly valued the opportunity to be updated on BPF packaging activities and to influence the strategic direction of the BPF in this important field".
