BPF Leads in Heading-off Slovakian PVC Ban
Monday, 10 August 2009
An attempt by the Slovakian government to implement a ban on PVC packaging was prevented by timely BPF action. The BPF convinced UK Government's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills that the Slovakian action was based on misleading information, would have distorted the packaging market in the EU and placed an unwarranted restraint on UK trade with Slovakia. The UK lodged a complaint with the European Commission and the Slovakians removed the offending article from their Draft Packaging Act .
