BPF Meet Minister of State for Trade
Wednesday, 21 October 2020
On 13 October, BPF Director General Philip Law and Membership Services Director Stephen Hunt met the Rt Hon Greg Hands MP, Minister of State at the Department for International Trade to discuss the UK Global Tariff. This constructive meeting was an opportunity to explain the impact the proposed tariffs on raw materials will have on the plastics industry, in the event of no trade deal with the EU, and to ask the Minister to reconsider the tariffs.
The Minister listened to the BPF’s arguments and by the end of the meeting had a clear understanding of our position on tariffs and the evidence base supporting this view. We will be staying in dialogue with the Minister and his team in the crucial weeks ahead.
