BPF Members visit Veolia site in Dagenham

On a sunny Tuesday 17th of September, the BPF members of Moulders and Specialist Processors Group visited a site of Veolia in Dagenham.

Veolia, which is the Federation’s member of the BPF Recycling Group provides a range of waste, water and energy management services in order to help the circular economy and preserve raw materials.

Originally a French company, Veolia UK is part of a worldwide Group of companies, employing  163 000 members of staff. Veolia has a number of sites in UK, some of which are Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF)  and some are Plastic Recovery Facilities (PRF).

The Dagenham PRF site was open in 2017 after acquisition of the plastics recycling firm, which had previously gone to administration. After modernisation and investment, the site reprocesses HDPE milk bottles and produces around 10,000 tonnes of high quality food grade HDPE pellets per annum. It uses the latest technology to produce quality HDPE resin close to virgin material.

BPF Members could learn about Veolia during a morning session of presentations followed by a site tour.

Veolia has been awarded many times for its innovative and reliable services. To name just a few, in 2018 Veolia received The Decentralised Energy Award - Industrial Awards Winner (combined heat and power), in 2017  Institute of Water Strictly Innovation Award, BITC Responsible Business Award reaccreditation, National Recycling Awards - Private-Public Sector Partnership Award and many more.
