Chinaplas 2023 Post Show Report

Chinaplas 2023 took place 17-23 April at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Shenzhen, China. The show was the first to take place since 2021 edition, as the 2022 fair was cancelled due to a lock down in Shanghai.
This year Chinaplas attracted a record numbers of attendees: 248,222 visitors (overseas visitors 28,429) and 3,900 exhibitors.

The number of international visitors in 2023 was lower than in the previous years, as the borders of China only opened in January 2023, after three years of no travel to China due to Covid-19.
With the travel back to normal, Chinaplas 2024 is expected to be very busy with the foreign visitors and even bigger than this year's edition!
The Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony took place on the first day of the show and included a speech by Stephan Keller the Mayor of Dusseldorf.

The British Pavilion coordinated by the BPF was located in Hall 10, which was the Interantional Hall. British Pavilion exhibitors:

Networking Dinner on the 18th April
Organised by the UK's Department for International Trade, and supported by British Plastics Federation, the British Pavilion exhibitors were invited to a networking dinner after the second day of Chinaplas. Over 70 guests attendfed the dinner, which included the British guests and Chinese delegates. The Deputy Director-Innovation and Industry at the Consulate-General Guanzhou, Trevor Lewis gave a welcome followed by a short introduction by the British Pavilion exhibitors.

UK / China Plastics Trade
China is worlds biggest producer and consumer of polymer and capacity is growing significantly.
In 2022 the UK imported £247m of plastic (raw material and products) from China making it the number one importer of plastic to the UK (Germany is second with £1.25m).


Chinaplas 2024
Chinaplas 2024 will take place 23-26th April in Shanghai at the National Exhibition and Conference Centre (the third biggest faiground in the world!) and the BPF is encouraging UK companies to join the British Pavilion and experience the world of opportunities China has to offer.
