Chinaplas Report: Day 2

Chinaplas 2023 is the largest show ever to take place here and as of the 2nd day of the show the halls have been completely packed with visitors. 166,049 people have visited the show in the first two days - of which 16,662 were from overseas.

The show runs 17-20 April 2023 in Shenzhen, at Shenzhen World Exhibition and Conference Centre (AKA Shenzhen World) a brand new purpose built trade show centre which was opened in 2019. The conference centre has a capacity of 410,000 sqm, making it the 2nd largest trade show halls in the world, and is absolutely 1st class in every way.

The BPF are coordinating the British Pavilion at Chinaplas and representing our members in Hall 10 stand 10P51, working in close collaboration with The UK's Department for Business and Trade.

The British Pavilion consists of 8 companies (which would have been more, but by the time China opened for visitors, floor space had sold out!) including Dassault Systemes, Fraser Anti-Static Techniques, Keeling & Walker, Meech International, Nextool UK, Polygiene Group, Rapidflame, and the BPF.

On the second evening of the show the UK's Department for Business and Trade hosted an evening reception attended by over 70 guests including numerous representatives from Chinese companies, the Chinese Goverment, and local plastics associations. In addition, attendees came from UK companies investing in China such as: Ineos (who recently announced a $7bn investment through a joint venture with Sinopec - the largest producer of plastics in China), Victrex and Colloids.

The key note speech was given by: Trevor Lewis, the Deputy Director-Innovation and Industry at the Consulate-General Guanzhou.

The BPF first exhibited at Chinaplas in 1982, at the very first Chinaplas show. Since then the growth of the show (specifically since the early 2000's) has been trully incredible.  The show this year features 3,900 exhibitors (making it the largest plastics show in the world by exhibitor numbers).

Chinaplas 2024 will take place 23-26th April in Shanghai at the National Exhibition and Conference Centre (the third biggest faiground in the world!) and the BPF is encouraging UK companies to join the British Pavilion and experience the world of opportunities China has to offer.
