A BPF Health and Safety Seminar

This seminar will provide delegates with a better understanding of the various elements required to create and maintain an electrically safe working environment for staff, contractors and visitors to their premises.
The main issues covered will be; the new Health and Safety offences Act 2008 and how it will affect the Duty Holder, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, insurance issues, the levels of competence required to work safely and the need to implement electrical safety programmes in order to satisfy the demands of the law and defend your position.
The seminar is a must for all ‘duty holders’.

The Health and Safety Offences Act 2008 came into force on Friday, 16 January 2009. This new Act will increase penalties and provide courts with greater sentencing powers for those who break health and safety law.

Ian Carnall I.Eng, MIIE (Elec)
Business Development Director, Connaught Compliance Electrical services Ltd
Ian started life as an N.G Bailey Apprentice in 1977, gaining recognition from the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer in 1997. He started his own electrical safety company in 1989, culminating with his appointment as NAPIT MD. Ian joined NECTA (now Connaught Compliance Electrical Services) in 1998 challenged with growing an electrical safety organisation and is today Business Development Director at Connaught Electrical turning over £20m and employing 350 staff.
Ernie Walker Dip.EE, C.Eng, MIEE, MIOSH
Electrical Consultant & former Senior Electrical Inspector for the HSE
Electrical Consultant & former Senior Electrical Inspector for the HSE. Ernie Walker is an Electrical Consultant with a long and distinguished career in and around the electrical industry. Formally a Senior Electrical Inspector for the HSE, he now divides his time between providing technical and safety consultancy and lecturing on Health &Safety law, electrical safety and machine safety.
John Quick
Managing Director, Connaught Compliance Electrical Services
John has been in the Electrical Industry for over 35 years and joined The Lowe Group (now Connaught Electrical) as Group Managing Director in 1999. In that time he has advised Blue Chip clients and major end-users in meeting their legal obligations in the matter of workplace safety. He has lectured throughout the country on this and other related subjects and has represented clients in HSE investigations, helping devise corrective and preventive action programmes.

The British Plastics Federation Directions: Leave Old Street Station Via exit 3 and keeping the roundabout behind you head down Old Street towards Rivington Street. On your left you will see a small row of shops including a pub called Nelson's Retreat and on your right you will pass a pub called The Aquarium. Keep heading straight following the road (Old Street) until you come to several sets of traffic lights at this point you will need to cross over towards The Foundry and keeping this pub on your left follow the road around the corner until you enter Rivington Street. Follow Rivington Street for approx. 50 meters and turn left, down the ramp, into Bath Place (the first building after the car park). The BPF is on the far side of the Courtyard situated directly opposite the ramp. |
