Nigel Flowers becomes BPF President

On the 17th May 2023 at the BPF's 88th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Nigel Flowers, Managing Director of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery UK was unanimously elected as the 49th BPF President.

Nigel is a well known figure in the UK plastics industry having worked in the sector over 40 years.  Nigel started his plastics career at Hozelock before joining Sumitomo SHI Demag as a Service Engineer in 1985 and becoming their Managing Director in 2006.

Nigel is a strong advocate for Education & Skills and has been a member of the BPF's Education & Skills Committee for a number of years and recently hosted the BPF's inaugral Career Ambassador Training training day at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag's offices in Daventry.  Nigel is also Chair of the BPF's Productivity Commitee

Prior to becoming BPF President Nigel has previously been president of BPF Affiliate Member Polymer Machinery Manufacturers & Distributors Association (PMMDA)

Nigel is the first President of the BPF to represent the machinery sector since Peter Richardson of Wittmann Battenfeld in the 1999.

At the AGM, BPF Director General, Philip Law paid tribute to outgoing President Karen Drinkwater (Director of JSC Rotational Limited) who has held the position of BPF President since May 2021.  Philip Law stated that "Karen has been a magnificiant leader of the BPF and she has immense qualities of fairness and balance and was invaluable in finding the optimal pathway through contenscious issues.  She goes with our great, great thanks for a job very well done!"
