Popular BPF Productivity Seminar Returns this June

On 14 June the British Plastics Federation (BPF) is running the second edition of its highly popular Productivity Seminar. This event will bring together industry experts and plastics processors to discuss and explore strategies for enhancing productivity within the plastics manufacturing sector. Last year’s inaugural event attracted over 70 delegates and featured 11 exhibitors. This year there are more exhibitors and the trade association hopes to attract even more delegates.

Taking place at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry, the event is being chaired by Nigel Flowers, chair of the BPF’s Productivity Committee, BPF president and managing director of Sumitomo Demag. After the event closes, delegates can take part in an optional tour of the MTC to view state-of-the-art robotics and automation systems, additive manufacturing developments, innovative precision machining capabilities and more.

Applied Lean Consulting’s Managing Director and Lead Consultant Tim Scurlock will give the first talk, discussing ways to monitor and measure productivity to track improvement. Russell Watkins, co-founder of Sempai, a company dedicated to helping manufacturing companies improve their performance, will then present on ways to embed performance-enhancing techniques within the working environment, as well as how to sustain and improve them over time.

Plastek UK Project Engineer Daniel Kelk will follow, providing a case study of two products and different applications of sustainable technologies. Berry Global Apprentice Engineering Operative Nigel Stephens will then discuss the importance of investing in people, before FANUC UK Head of Sales Oliver Selby outlines the Japanese manufacturer’s model for low running costs, long service life, and how automation can support better ROI and TCO.

The event also features a table top exhibition. Those exhibiting include Arburg, BPF Energy, Busch Vacuum Solutions, Coperion, Engel, FANUC, Hayley 24/7, Intouch, Matics, Moulders Consulting Limited, the Plastek Group, Plastribution and Summit Plastics Automation.

Commenting on the event, Nigel Flowers states:

With the rapid evolution of the plastics industry, it is crucial for businesses to continuously seek innovative ways to improve productivity.

I am very pleased to see this event returning and am sure it will build on the success of the one we held last year. It offers a unique opportunity to learn from industry leaders and explore new avenues for growth.

Anyone in the industry keen to understand innovations that can increase productivity, reduce their environmental footprint and decrease overheads should ensure they attend.

The seminar is open to professionals from all segments of the plastics industry including manufacturers, suppliers, policymakers, researchers and consultants. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the event aims to create a vibrant ecosystem where ideas are exchanged, challenges are addressed and collaborations are formed.

On the day of the event, registration opens at 10am. The talks are expected to finish at 1.30pm, after which there will be a networking lunch, followed by the optional tour of the MTC.

The event is free to attend for members of the BPF and £90 for non members.
