PTIC, proud to deliver new Apprenticeship Standard ST1328 (Polymer Processing Technician)

Polymer Training & Innovation Centre (PTIC) is proud to share that they are one of a few providers in the UK to deliver new Apprenticeship Standard ST1328 (Polymer Processing Technician). They are also excted to share the new courses to deliver in 2025. 

Apprenticeships
We commenced delivery of the new Apprenticeship Standard ST1328 (Polymer Processing Technician) - one of only 3 Providers in the UK to do so. We enrolled our first students in January 2024 and now have 19 on this programme, with more to come in the New Year. More flexibility on training dates and fewer assignments; something for everyone!

New Machines
As well as our Engel, Arburg, Fanuc and Ferromatik injection moulding machines, we have now been able to add a Negri Bossi Nova eT 80-290 and Krauss Maffei PX 81-250 to the family.

New courses
As well as our full range of polymer processing and health & Safety courses, we now offer Product Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and New Product Design & Development. Our Health & Safety training offer has also increased to include our face fit testing service.

PICAT II IM simulator software - new language
Now available in Turkish, in addition to English, French, German, Spanish, Slovak and Czech. Need a particular language version that isn't on this list? What's new for 2025?

Online testing
We're currently in the process of creating online versions of all our assessments. (IMT2 is now available.) This will mean that candidates undertaking re-sits will no longer have to travel back to Telford and can undertake their assessment online via Teams if preferred. If trials are successful, we aim to introduce this as an option for our end of course assessments too - immediate results, plus coloured screens, larger text, immersive readers and other language options!
•    Pass / Merit / Distinction
The above gradings will be added to our certificates in order to better reflect scores achieved.
70 - 80% = Pass
81 - 90% = Merit
91%+ = Distinction

Digitisation of certificates?
This is a tricky one...As part of the College, we're always aiming to reduce the amount of paper we use and digitise our documents as much as possible. However, we appreciate that receiving a digital version of a certificate and being charged to obtain a physical one does not always go down well! Therefore, we will continue to only charge for replacement hard copy certificates (pdf versions will be free.)  We'd like to know your views on the matter before a final decision is made though.
