UK food packaging manufacturer DMD 2000 has increased its production capacity, after investing in high capacity vacuum forming technology from Ridat.
Thermoforming equipment manufacturer Ridat, which is based in Middlesex, has supplied a 3024ATF Large Format automatic inline thermoforming machine to DMD 2000, to support the production of plastic thermoformed trays for the food industry.
Aberdeen-headquartered DMD 2000 manufactures a wide range of trays for bakeries, as well as meat and pie trays for the food industry. It has been named Manufacturer of the Year in the Scottish Baker Awards on several occasions.
Designed for high speed production, the new 3024ATF machine joins two Ridat 3024ATF machines already on-site at DMD 2000’s manufacturing facility.
The machine is reel-fed and is capable of employing moulds with a maximum size of 760mm x 610mm, with formed sheets automatically separated by a double acting guillotine.
The 3024ATF model features a double pitch preheat station which consists of upper and lower ceramic heaters to minimise material stress and its dual ceramic heaters enable a wide variety of thermoformable materials to be used in the machine.
Ridat has more than 60 years of heritage in thermoforming equipment manufacturing and it has more than 2500 installations across over 65 countries.
Mark McKechnie, Operations Director of DMD 2000, said: “The introduction of a new 3024ATF Large Format Automatic Thermoforming Machine to our manufacturing site has enabled us to increase capacity to meet growing demand.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Ridat and it is enormously helpful to work with a thermoforming equipment supplier which fully understands our manufacturing requirements.
“Our team have been very impressed with the 3024ATF machines previously supplied by Ridat and this investment allows us to build on the capabilities offered by that equipment.”
Dipak Sen Gupta, Director of Ridat, said: “Ridat is deeply embedded into the plastic packaging industry and we are proud to supply technology that can help companies such as DMD 2000 to increase manufacturing capacity.
“DMD 2000 is an award-winning company which is renowned for the quality of its products, so we were delighted to work with Mark McKechnie and the team and supply a solution suitable for their process needs and manufacturing environment.”
