Welcome to The Polymer Zone a new teaching and learning resource developed by the British Plastics Federation for primary and secondary schools.

Polymers are an integral part of our daily lives and the sector employs around 170,000 people in the UK and turns over £23.5 billion.

This website helps children and young people to learn about why plastics are important and the unique properties that enable them to be used in many applications including construction, manufacturing, packaging, aerospace and medicine.

The lesson plan is curriculum linked and ready to go, but do please adapt it to meet your local teaching and learning needs.  Most presentations featured on this site are whiteboard friendly and in some cases feature printable lesson plans and worksheets.  The resource area provides additional resources for projects and homework.

We are also developing a network of polymer sector ambassadors who will visit your school and give your students an insight into their jobs and the wider polymer industry.
