SHARPAK Announced as Founding Signatory of the New UK Packaging Pact

BPF member SHARPAK have confirmed its position as a founding signatory of the UK Packaging Pact, the new voluntary agreement led by WRAP.  The initiative which will be launching in April 2026 aims to drive major improvements across all packaging materials in the UK.

As a long-established multi-material packaging manufacturer, SHARPAK has consistently led the market in the development of innovative solutions designed to reduce packaging weight, increase ease of recycling, and maintain full product functionality. Our teams have worked for many years to anticipate future requirements, improve material recovery, and support the shift to packaging that fits effectively within circular systems.

The UK Packaging Pact marks a significant next step in bringing the entire value chain together to optimise packaging of any material. It aims to optimise packaging design, strengthen circular infrastructure, and improve the quality and alignment of data used across the value chain. The Pact will play a vital role, as the UK undergoes major legislative and operational changes through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Simpler Recycling reforms, and upcoming Deposit Return Schemes (DRS). By bringing businesses, recyclers, government and innovators together, the Pact will help ensure these reforms translate into practical, effective outcomes for both industry and consumers.

SHARPAK welcomes this wider, cross-material approach and is committed to contributing our technical knowledge and real-world manufacturing expertise to help accelerate progress.

SHARPAK is part of Groupe GUILLIN, a European leader in food packaging solutions. Groupe GUILLIN’s long-standing environmental objectives, focused on responsible material choices, high recyclability, and efficient resource use, align closely with the ambitions of the UK Packaging Pact. As part of the Group, SHARPAK will continue to advance packaging that performs effectively while reducing its overall impact.

“Becoming a founding signatory of the UK Packaging Pact reflects our commitment to leading from the front. As part of Groupe GUILLIN, we share a clear vision for packaging that is efficient, responsibly designed, and compatible with robust material recovery. The Pact gives our industry the platform to align around shared goals and accelerate real progress, and we look forward to playing an active role in that journey”.
