Talisman Plastics Embark On A Journey To Provide A Circular Revolution

Talisman Plastics have been supplying products to the market using up to 100% recycled material for many years now, and 2023 has seen them take a further step and begin the process of producing products using a sustainable biodegradable material.

We know the plastics industry requires sustainable solutions, now more than ever. The market is placing more demand on suppliers to offer resolutions as global leaders introduce bans and restrictions on single use plastics, and as a business Talisman recognise taking action is the only way to solve it!

Over the past 12 months, Talisman Plastics have committed time, resources, and machinery, to bring to market other options outside of traditional virgin material. Resins manufactured from petrochemicals will and must be reduced/replaced. Talisman Plastics are committed to a sustainable future and see this as a key part of extending our 100-year history of supplying injection moulded components to the market.

They know there is not just one solution to the single-use plastics issue and as most alternatives have significant limitations there is a lot to be considered. The solution to this global problem will be a range of materials and systems depending on product type and market application, and are currently in the process of developing one of our own security seal products (known as Boxloc) from a material derived from spent coffee grounds.

There has been some significant developments and changes in the coffee industry and the global coffee culture. Talisman Plastics believe the next wave is a circular revolution, closing the coffee loop and concentrating on innovative solutions for coffee waste treatment, reducing CO2 footprints in the whole value chain.

Trials have been conducted, including establishing process parameters and physical strength properties to support products which will be used in real life applications. We are feeding back to material suppliers the further developments required to commercialise these materials. Keep a look out for further updates on this as we move into 2024!
