Tensile Testing

A Universal Testing Machine or Tensile Testing Machines is used to accurately measure the physical properties of solid materials.

A test system mainly consists of:

Load frame of a suitable force capacity for the materials being tested
Measuring transducers such as Load Cells to measure force and Extensometers to measure strain.
Test fixturing or tensile grips to hold or support the specimen during the test
Control and testing software to:
a. Enter dimensions and details of the specimen being tested
b. Control the Load Frame to follow a test profile such as a speed in units of mm/min
c. Measure calculations for Modulus, Peak Force, Elongation, and Poisson’s Ratio
d. Perform a statistical analysis of a sample batch tested
e. Export test data to network databases
Temperature chamber for testing at hot or cold temperatures (optional)

Types of Test:

Tensile Test - Modulus, Peak Force, Pre-Determined Preset Points,  Break Point and Poisson’s Ratio
Compression Test - Modulus, Peak Force, Pre-Determined Preset Points,  and Break Point
Bend Test - Modulus, Peak Load and Break Point
Peel Test – Average Peel Force
Tear Test – Tear Strength
Shear Strength - Modulus, Peak Load and Break Point
Coefficient of Friction – Static and Dynamic Coefficient of Friction
