Apprentices Shine at the 2025 Polymer Industry Apprentice Awards

The British Plastics Federation and the Worshipful Company of Horners is proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of apprentices at the 2025 Polymer Industry Apprentice Awards.

Darcy Skett-Ricketts - Materials Technician at Silteq Ltd, received the Polymer Apprentice of the Year 2025 Award, while Eva Blinston - Lab Technician from Colloids, was named Runner Up - both impressive accomplishments that reflect the talent, dedication of the next generation of Polymer professionals.

Recognising Excellence in the Polymer Industry
The prestigious awards are run jointly by the Worshipful Company of Horners and the British Plastics Federation Education & Skills Committee. The competition celebrates the commitment, innovation, and work ethic of apprentices across the whole polymer sector.
Following the nomination stage in October, both Eva and Darcy were shortlisted from a highly competitive pool of candidates representing technical, engineering, manufacturing, and design roles across the UK. As shortlisted finalists, they each presented their work, aspirations, and achievements to a panel of respected industry judges.

Celebrating Apprentice Success
During the awards ceremony held at London’s iconic Mansion House last week, the Lady Mayor of London presented Darcy Skett-Ricketts with the Apprentice of the Year Award and Eva Blinston with a Certificate as runner-up.
Darcy’s work focuses on developing new Polymer materials and colour matches in response to customer requests, combining technical precision with creativity and innovation. Eva has excelled in her role as an Apprentice Lab Technician, consistently demonstrating strong analytical skills and a commitment to excellence in her laboratory work.
In addition to the achievements listed above, Jamie Sanderson, Injection Moulding Process Engineer from Camdenboss, received a Highly Commended from the panel of judges.

The Polymer Apprentice Award not only celebrates individual achievement but also serves as an important reminder of the value of investing in new talent.
